Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing technical direction to ensure effective coordination of Value Streams, Engineering, Purchasing, and Marketing efforts as they affect the quality of products and processes within U.S. and Foreign Operations. Translate Quality Leadership strategies into tactical actions by interfacing with the appropriate functions and provide planning and implementation of quality procedures and systems. Provide technical direction of projects including standard problem- solving techniques and APQP.
Uphold and maintain a safe working environment within the department.
Perform internal audits.
Perform analysis and develop metrics to display and track quality performance.
Define and execute quality improvement plans for value streams.
Mentor Quality Technicians to develop their skills and leverage their resources to monitor and develop underperforming value streams.
Support training needs for value streams in basic problem-solving techniques and APQP
Complete internal Product Parts Approval Process.
Maintain relationships with the cross-functional teams including Engineering, Marketing, Commodity Managers, Buyers, and the value stream managers/supervisors regarding quality standards, inspection test methods and equipment, drawing and specification clarity and completeness, evaluation of deviations, and drawing changes.
Analyze quality data and make recommendations for adjustment to product design, manufacturing process and equipment, and quality procedures. Follow-up to assure that corrective actions are in place and assess effectiveness.
Work with manufacturing engineering to develop methods and procedures for evaluation of processes and equipment to meet the required quality capability.
Participate with Marketing and Engineering in developing quality acceptance standards and perceptive appearance standards which cover such items as appearance, surface roughness, color, noise, and vibration.
Where appropriate, provide for disposition of non-conforming products in a timely, economical manner and assure the proper preventive action is taken using the Material Condition Report procedure.
Maintain appropriate history and records of quality issues and process improvements.
Develop formats for inspection and test instructions, measurement data, and other quality information as needed.
Maintain professional level and technical skills through membership in technical and professional societies, and by attending appropriate courses and seminars.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years relevant work experience
Knowledge in Quality Systems (ISO 9001:2015)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Statistical Process Techniques, Failure Analysis, and Process Validation experience
Strong Project Management Skills
Lean/6 Sigma background preferred
Physical Requirements:
Able to work in an office environment using a computer for an extended period of time.
Safely move throughout manufacturing facility to complete tasks.
