Justrite Manufacturing, the leading source of storage, handling and security products including fire prevention safety equipment for hazardous materials, environmental protection spill containment devices, and specialized storage products is seeking a Quality Technician to join the operation at their Mattoon, IL facility
Responsible for the quality and consistency of the organization’s products by reviewing quality standards, tolerances and engineering Change Orders to request changes to existing blueprints. Evaluate Engineering Change Orders for rework of parts and sub-assemblies. Analyzes engineering specifications and manufacturing processes, develops and implements inspection and test plans within the facility. Investigates and analyzes quality problems, recommends solutions and ensures corrective actions are taken, and preventive actions are determined and implemented. Main Responsibilities Create work instructions on each operation for each SKU and implement and create inspection instructions and implement critical characteristics on all products.
Performs activities support supplies such as troubleshoot foreign supplier quality problems and verify corrective/preventative actions, provide Justrite work instructions, provide 1st Article Inspection on samples provided and potential supplier purchased components, provide photos/video as needed for products currently being produced at Justrite, determine critical dimensions on drawings of finished products and components, and travel to supplier as needed to address quality issues.
Provides Justrite support by determining non-conformance and cause, determining corrective and preventative action(s), determine disposition of defective product, determine disposition of finished stock, provide instructions on rework activity, and inspect product for trials or show orders.
Inspect inbound finished products from sources, create quality requirements, create incoming inspection instructions for each SKU, verify product meets drawing specification, verify product to required additional testing, verify cosmetics and aesthetics, conduct 1st Article Inspection and Testing when needed, record inspection results, and review engineering change orders to keep current drawings available for incoming inspection.
Analyze Customer Service returned products, determine defect and root cause, write complete investigation report with findings, and implement corrective measures when necessary.
Measure/Calibrate all in-house measuring devices, send necessary measuring devices to outside sources and verify returned reports, and update Calibration Records.
Update all work instructions affected by changes, update all inspection instructions affected by changes, and update supplied incoming inspection instructions affected by engineering changes.
Qualifications B.S. in Quality Assurance or related discipline; engineering background preferred
Ability to generate and interpret statistical data. Proven experience in idea generation to reduce costs and improve quality.
Proven experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles.
Direct involvement and communication with the customer.
Experience working in a team environment preferably with a small to medium size company.
Proficient in Microsoft Office. MAPICS experience preferred.
Ability to walk, sit, bend, twist and navigate all areas of office and plant.
