Job Description
R&D Biomedical Engineer ISupport the development of new and existing product specifications and requirements based on design input requirements in collaboration with the project engineer;Lead and manage design or sustaining projects of low to moderate complexity;Make technical presentations to management regarding project status;Utilize understanding of human physiology, joint mechanics and biomedical engineering principles in the development of product technical specifications;Perform complex statistical analyses on Minitab to support technical findings from design verification and validation activities;Write technical reports, risk management documents, VOC summaries, test protocols and design input and output documents;Create detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings of mechanical components and assemblies;Perform sustaining engineering activities including problem troubleshooting, root cause analysis, investigations, and resolve part obsolescence issues;Interface with cross-functional groups such as QA, Operations, Marketing and Regulatory Affairs as needed for new product development and sustaining projects;Develop and perform verification and validation testing for new product development;Support design engineering team in building prototypes, test fixtures and tooling;Work with external testing laboratories on compliance testing for new products and sustaining engineering activities;Perform evaluations of potential OEM or competitors' products;Maintain calibration of lab equipment;Conduct tolerance and mechanical analysis;Coordinate with suppliers regarding detail prints and component specifications;Authors and or assists in the creation of new test methods and protocols; andDevelop fixturing/instrumentation to execute tests.Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.Must have proficiency in the following:SolidWorks CAD softwareTest Protocol writingTest Method validationKnowledge of Project Lifecycle Management software, such as windchillKnowledge of FDA medical device regulations5% domestic travel to vendors.Benefits:CONMED offersCompetitive compensationExcellent healthcare including medical, dental, vision and prescription coverageShort & long term disability plus life insurance -- cost paid fully by CONMEDRetirement Savings Plan (401K) -- company match dollar for dollar up to 7% Employee stock purchase plan -- allows stock purchases at discounted price.Tuition assistance for undergraduate and graduate level coursesCONMED is an Equal Opportunity Employer & an Affirmative Action Employer.
