Bill Jordan decided to try his hand at developing a camouflage pattern in 1986, quite early in the camouflage revolution. Bill began his career in the hunting business in 1983, when he founded Spartan Archery Products in the back room of his father's Columbus, Georgia boat store. Computers, digital cameras, and photo-realistic printing are used to produce Realtree camo patterns. Realtree remains on top of the newest advancements in fabric design and printing so that it can advise clients (licensees who pay a royalty fee to use the camo designs) on how to keep quality and performance high. Realtree has around 80 employees in Columbus, Georgia, and also has a presence throughout Europe. The Realtree company has expanded from that first licensee in 1986 to over 1,500 licensees today.
