About Receiving Clerk

What does a Receiving Clerk do?

As Receiving Clerks, we are responsible for loading and unloading shipments, as well as verifying that shipment contents are correct and undamaged. We generally work in warehouses or other facilities where they receive a large number of shipments and deliveries. We manage incoming deliveries to a warehouse or factory by verifying and signing for shipments, unloading and storing the received items, and processing any returns. A keen attention to detail is an attribute we share as it is very useful when inspecting deliveries. Physical exertion is also a highlight of our work due to the lifting and moving of heavy items.

Core tasks:

  • receiving and signing for deliveries.
  • inspecting deliveries to ensure they match order and invoice criteria
  • working with procurement staff on everyday basis
  • maintaining records of orders, delivery details, and other necessary paperwork
