About Recreation Therapist

What does a Recreation Therapist do?

As Recreation Therapists, we organize therapy sessions to interact with patients and provide physical and mental wellness recommendations. We also develop and implement rehabilitation programs to help patients adjust to a disability or illness and ensure that treatment plans are suitable for patients' physical condition and are in accordance with their preferences. We monitor and keep track of patients' progress to modify treatment programs as necessary by obtaining and reviewing patients' medical records to assess patients' abilities, interests, and needs. We are also responsible for providing numerous health tips to patients and their families on leisure activities to implement proper lifestyle changes necessary for improved health conditions.

Core tasks:

  • organize and lead patients in multiple recreational activities
  • coordinate with other health care professionals to plan and evaluate therapy programs
  • maintain an up-to-date record of patient information, progress, treatment program, and recovery progress
