What does a Recreation Therapy Aide do?

As Recreation Therapy Aides, we assist the clinic’s therapist by collecting data from patients, including their names, personal information, medical record, and insurer provider. We walk with patients to the therapist's office and reassure them about the process by answering any question that they ask in a calm and professional tone. We also assess and examine medication that patients are taking and determine how they might affect the patient’s mental health, and note any other exterior trauma whether it is family or work-related.

Core tasks:

  • follow-up with patients on a regular basis
  • contact authorities if the patient show suicidal behavior
