ABOUT US

DC Scholars Public Charter School was founded in Southeast Washington, DC, in 2012. Serving over 550 scholars in grades PK-8, 100% of DC Scholars students receive free and reduced meals and 15% receive special education services. As the first community school in Ward 7, DC Scholars provides our families with a wide variety of resources to help each scholar and their family be successful both in and out of school. We believe that partnering with families is essential to the success and overall development of their scholars.

DC Scholars' academic vision of excellence is to put students on the path to attend and succeed academically in high school and college. We achieve this vision through a programmatic model that focuses on creating an academic experience for all students that meets them where they are and pushes them to exceed grade level expectations.

POSITION

The Recruitment Associate is responsible for implementation talent recruiting, processes, procedures, and policies in support of the overall strategic direction of DC Scholars, specifically in the areas of recruitment.

  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct initial interviews for teaching and instructional roles. Support hiring manager for all non-instructional roles as needed

  • Screen teaching candidates to evaluate qualifications or eligibility based on minimum role requirements and state compliance

  • Attend and participate in job fairs, open houses, and website recruitment

  • Create and revise job announcements in collaboration with hiring manager for teaching and support roles within the organization; post positions and ensure that postings are up-to-date

  • Identify opportunities for outreach and represent and promote DC Scholars through external events, on-campus tours, and other opportunities

  • Manage logistics for interview days, including preparation of interview materials and coordination with campus-based leadership

  • Maintain relationships with School Directors and campus-based interview teams in order to understand hiring needs and scheduling

  • Work with Operations and Academic team (i.e. School Directors or designated parties) to ensure a seamless on-boarding process for new hires)

  • Human Resources Operations

  • Serve as a system administrator for transactional requests in iSolved, DC Scholars' Human Resource Information System (HRIS)

  • EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years of progressively responsible work experience with a track record of excellence and success, preferably within an educational or non-profit, multi-site setting

  • 1-2 years of experience in human resources, recruiting, or operational management strongly preferred

  • Strong organization skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Superior ability to follow through and complete tasks and projects at a high caliber

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred

    • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
