I was a server there for about 7 months. They don’t really help you get the hang of things when you’re new and will blame you every time something goes wrong. The pay isn’t great unless you have a good table, but I guess that’s the life of a server.

Pros and Cons
Friendly coworkers
No free food, no breaks, they make you stay behind to do “chores”

As someone who has severe anxiety but strives to overcome it, I enjoyed pushing myself in the fast paced work environment. I rarely wanted to ask for help as I felt defeated when I did, but that was my downfall. I often knew I could do my job well enough on my own, but I would be better off with help with how impatient the public is about food. I am patient enough to listen to difficult requests and do my best to make them happen without complaining, but my spirits were beaten down. It has to do with deep childhood trauma and my passion for the creatures of the sea. The world needs more patience and kindness and it was difficult for me to find peace at Red Lobster without it. Looking at the lobsters in the tank in front of the restaurant would cause me to feel their suffering and think of the damage that commercial fishing does to the ocean. I could not be at peace with myself knowing I was contributing to a company focused on marketing seafood.

Pros and Cons
flexible schedule, friendly co-workers and management
ocean destruction, commercial fishing is not sustainable.

Red lobster is a brand from the 80s and they haven’t changed their decor inside the restaurant since then. Overpriced frozen seafood. They overload your plates to make you think you’re getting a value but by the time people get to the seafood it’s always cold. Clienteles the worse they constantly complain. Hated working for this company.

Pros and Cons
Zero Nothing zilch
Overworked underpaid understaffed all the time

They want you to do the work of four people but pay you for one, hourly they don’t really pay anything not what people are actually worth. They don’t care about your home life They don’t really train new people quit all the time because it’s overwhelming because again they want you to do the work of 4 people and pay you for one

Pros and Cons
People in the kitchen can eat whatever they want I think but servers have to pay 50%
They don’t really care about your home/work balance
