As Registered Respiratory Therapists, we consult and coordinate with physicians and other healthcare staff to help develop and modify individual patient care plans to treat a wide range of patients from infants through the elderly. We restore our patients’ full pulmonary function by alleviating their pain by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy while providing a complex respiratory therapy for patients on life support in hospital intensive care units. We are tasked with accurately evaluating our patients’ respiratory system by performing limited physical examinations and conducting diagnostic tests such as measure lung capacity tests and acidity and alkalinity of the blood.
