Summary

A Research Assistant position is available at a visionary startup Stemson Therapeutics. The candidate will be part of a dynamic research and development team focused on hair follicle restoration using human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). We seek a passionate person who will support the product development of our novel cell therapy in preparation for a First-In-Human clinical trial. The candidate will support our research scientists to design and develop bioengineering approaches for human iPSC-derived dermal papilla and epithelial cell cultures and transplantation into rodent and large animal models. The candidate will perform various lab experiments, organize data and results, and support team decisions to drive final product design. The ideal candidate will possess a strong team orientation with a willingness to share ideas and a passion for developing cutting edge therapies that can change millions of lives for the better.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform human iPSC and/or primary cell tissue culture, differentiation, and characterization
Perform DNA/RNA extraction and quantification
Perform immunolabeling assays (fluorescence and chromogenic) and immunoblotting
Perform frozen tissue cryostat sectioning and immunohistochemistry
Perform lab managing tasks, such as preparing reagents, aliquot solutions, autoclave tools
Work on dissecting human hair follicles and human skin, obtained from patients
Prepare or collect samples for external shipments
Productively and collegially interact with project team members
Review scientific literature related to assigned programs
Organize data and prepare deliverables for periodic review meetings
Offer ideas to overcome challenges and solve problems

Requirements

Required Skills

Advanced tissue culture capabilities
Genomic and protein analysis tools and protocols
Willingness to work with rodents and pigs as well as human tissues
Applicant must be a highly motivated self-starter
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills
A desire to contribute ideas and share opinions

Required Experience

Bachelor or Masters in Biological sciences with strong focus on research and development
Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience in molecular and small molecule biology, cell biology, cell culture, animal handling, DNA/RNA preparation, qPCR, proteinanalysis, and immunolabeling
Experience working in a pre-clinical development lab with familiarity in following protocols and documentation procedures for pre-clinical development
Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Experience

Experience with iPSC culture line highly desirable
Experience with skin-derived cells, including fibroblasts and keratinocytes
Experience in cutting-edge bioengineering techniques
Experience with animal model procedures and surgeries
Working knowledge with organoid culture

Tasks

Formulate mathematical or simulation models of problems, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters.

Perform validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulate models as necessary.
