What does a Residential Counselor do?

As Residential Counselors, our primary tasks include providing support and supervision to residents in group homes or residential treatment facilities. We help residents develop life skills, manage daily activities, and navigate social interactions. Residential Counselors also assist in creating and maintaining a safe and supportive living environment. We may participate in case management, coordinate with external services, and support residents' emotional and psychological well-being. Additionally, we document residents' progress and behaviors, reporting any significant changes to the appropriate professionals.
