Being a cashier is easy. Customers are generally nice. Managers had a high focus on maintaining memberships. Taking items back was harsh because of walking on the concrete so much. We had the electronics next to the checkout area so we would hear/see the repeat ads, that was horrible.

Experience, promotions
Strain on body, negative management

I worked for sam's club as a baker/cake decorator. Job pays well but in my 2 years there I wasn't offered any chance of advancement. After awhile the job became boring and redundant. They also weren't open to exploring new cake designs that customers were looking for.

Pros and Cons
Pays well. Perfect for a person who is looking for a consistent role within a company.
No advancement available. No flexible work areas or work styles.

Experience does not matter at all unless youre management. You may come in making as much as the senior employee that trains you. Two months later you will be training someone who makes a dollar more than both of you who has zero experience. Wage and hours are not competitive at all. I literally had years of experience and have to train at least one kid a month who is getting paid more to play on their phone than I do to work. This is company wide.

I started as a personal shopper, at first everyone was pretty friendly but unfortunately they began to dislike me for unknown reasons. I’d get laughed at, yelled at, talked about etc by them. I hated to be one to go run and tell management, but it got to such a bad point to where I felt the need to. Nothing changed. Even a green vest began to harass me due to my sexual orientation. After reporting him to HR still nothing was done even though I had evidence to back it up. The job paid pretty good but they should take their HR claims a lot more seriously. Maybe I just got unlucky with the store I was at, but it was a miserable time for me mentally.

Pros and Cons
Good pay, job is easy
HR doesn’t respond to your harassment claims and you only get 5 unexcused every 6 months

Basically a fun job. Worked with mostly hard working, nice people. Several of which became close friends. Met mostly nice customers while doing demos. Learned about food safety and became Food Safety Certified. Also was introduced to several products that were beforehand unknown to me. Some I liked, some I didn't. Demo manager was training me to fill his position, but District Mgr. didn't offer me the position. Stayed 4 years and then had the opportunity to go back to my previous accounting position.

Sams is a hit or miss depending on location. They honestly don’t care about your outside life, they’re all about the company. I’ve worked in different positions and seen so much throughout my years and so many great workers get terminated when they stand up for what’s right. Because Florida is an at will state they can terminate even if it’s a lie. I’ve worked at great locations and it’s not as bad, they don’t value their workers unless you’re pushing all your values to the side to lie for this company

Pros and Cons
They do try and do things for the associates, feed them, and other resources
Have to bust your behind to make hours and money or to move up

I started work at Sam's Club in July of 2015. My first job was collecting and pushing carts with a cart handler. Then after a year and a half, I transferred inside as a Grocery Associate. I brought items on shelves to the front, swept the aisles, and crushed cardboard in the receiving-room baler. Then I got fired in December of 2021 because I decided to call off on so-called Event Days (the days after Thanksgiving)

My first sales job, started as Membership sales and got promoted to export sales very soon and right after that to Export Sales Manager, found a great working team from my Store Manager to Corporate Office and Custom Export Brokers, at that time I was able to find a need for diapers in Mexico, with only that one product plus several others, I was able to skyrocket sales for that store, it helped a lot for me to be from Mexico and have several contacts that optimized the sales process, I was happy there until I got a great offer to work for the Kmart group.

Pros and Cons
Since it was a new program, I was able to customize several areas with the help of my Store Manager

As standard practice with any walmart company, full time employment is not available, therefore there really are no benefits or pto. Getting into that coveted 40+ hour position depends on who you know and who likes you. Sam's club does not value the employee. My starting hourly pay was $11 an hour, as a CSS, pay was $13 an hour. After a year with the company, I was put in a position to train the new cashiers. I found out that the new cashiers were making a dollar more an hour then the supervisors, this was because of new company hiring policies that were enacted. Went to management and HR with out grievances and all supervisors were told that any raises would be on merit in six months time. We ALL quit.

Worked at several locations and was salaried. The job often required you to work more hours than the scheduled 50hrs. Many times we would have to pull extended shifts, doubles and at times 24 or more hours. When corporate came to visit they treated store management worse than roaches and set out to tell you everything you do wrong with the harshest language they could without using vulgar language. Absolutely awful culture. Since I left the company I won’t even shop there. Pay at the time was pretty good at the time but the amount of time they demanded of you did not make the job worth it. There was zero work life balance. Insurance benefits did not offer good coverage and had high deductibles.

Pros and Cons
Free membership, close knit management
Culture, no work life balance, Bad insurance, no corporate recognition

Sam's club is not a bad place when dealing with your coworkers, even nice having a team at your back when doing your job. However the corporate leadership often hold their teams working in the field/warehouses, responsible for not getting results when the company passes a ineffective product/service. Be warned, they've good teams in club usually... But don't be surprised to be warned & written up when you don't meet numbers on unwanted services or credit applications that nobody wants. I started as a cashier many years back, gradually moved up to become a Manger. This is a company you can develop and grow a career in... to a point, but you need people looking out for ya.

Pros and Cons
Great break and lunch scheduling to avoid overworking when around customers. Plus free membership.
Over complicated fixes to basic problems. Little financial incentive to remain with the company.

Worked at Sam's Club for 14 years. An OK place to practice. They don't promote the O.D. at all. Opticians are mostly inexperienced.

Pros and Cons
Independent
Hours are set for you, no cooperation from Management

I started in Walmart(2005), then transferred. In 2013. Things were great for awhile. I struggled getting full-time. 2015 I finally got full-time. I had a heart attack in 2016. By 2018 50 clubs closed down. They then proceeded to fire long term employees after firing majority of managers and transferred managers from Lansing. I was wrongly let go, I can prove it. Terrible company.

Pros and Cons
I used to love the place but, they betrayed many long term employees.
Terrible decline of values.

I would never work at Sam's again all they want is robots and people that make them look good. They're not friendly they're ruined I would never ever tell anybody to work at Sam's Club ever oh. I had a great personality and was bubbly got fired and was told it was because my drawer was short. But when I got up to talk to the manager they just told me that I was too bad that I spent too much time talking to the customers. And they had to let me go but they were sure I'd find work. They are rude and they don't give to schitt's about you

Pros and Cons
None what so ever
They never work around your life

I enjoyed working outside, despite Florida’s notorious summer heat. Customers were usually friendly to deal with, more so than most supervisors. A few could stand to undergo some much-needed tender loving care when it came to handling human relations.

Pros and Cons
Plenty of breaks; I was able to take Saturday due to religious beliefs.
Poor communication from supervisors to staff. It created unnecessary confusion..

I worked there for many years and I use to love it. Growth options are available the pay and benefits are not bad at all for retail positions. Depends on the managers of the location on how good morale is and things of favoritism. The company is making much needed changes but this has also compromised proper training or communication on goals. With all the changes it also had everyone wondering one day to the next if positions were going to be eliminated.

Pros and Cons
Pay and benefits
Stressful and no accountability of management

You see all different people coming into Sam's Club. I myself have stopped some of the same people trying to steal the same items, but they didn't get past me.

Pros and Cons
Every 3 months if the store does well they get an extra check for the Sam's share.
If you have health issues, and you don't get approved for an intermittent leave be careful of days
