As scheduling supervisors, the nature of our job can be different depending on the type of the organization or project we work for.
In a production environment, our goal is to optimize the workflow of a factory or plant. This means calculating necessary manhours, creating workforce schedules, as well as ensuring that the necessary parts and materials are available on time.
In other areas such as healthcare, we are responsible for all scheduling functions of a healthcare facility. We ensure compliance with corporate policies and guidelines, as well as overall patient and physician satisfaction. We ensure that staff receives appropriate training, and we are generally responsible for the adequate staffing of our area.
We might also lead a team of schedulers, with standard supervisory duties such as managing day-to-day operations, assigning tasks, managing performance control, trainings, etc.
Core tasks:
- planning and implementing scheduling workflows to optimize performance
- building, coordinating, reviewing work schedules
- supervising scheduling staff members
- resolving escalated scheduling concerns
