What does a School Psychologist do?

As School Psychologists, we are responsible for assisting children and youth in succeeding academically, socially and emotionally. It is our job to counsel students and help them resolve their academic and mental health issues. It is our job to create healthy learning environment by collaborating with teachers, administration, and parents. We promote supportive learning process of students while they are at school and also at home by partnering with their parents. We are responsible for listening to students' concerns and then assist them in resolving them. It is our prime duty to end factors that hinder a students learning and academic advancement.

Core tasks:

  • assist students in coping with mental health and academic problems
  • play a part in academic advancement of students by thoroughly addressing and resolving their concerns
  • collaborate with parents, teachers, and administration to promote supportive and healthy learning environment
  • promote positive behaviors among students
