I say retail, you say real estate giant. Time will tell for Sears Holdings, the corporation created by the acquisition of troubled department store operator Sears, Roebuck and Co. by Kmart Holding Corp. The megamerger created one of the nation's largest retailers with about 4,000 stores in North America. Though it has since lost ground, the holding company steers the varied retail operations of Sears (about 840 US department stores) and Kmart (about 1,300 discount outlets), which continue to operate separately under their familiar brand names. Sears Holdings also owns a majority stake in Sears Canada. ESL Investments, controlled by the company's chairman Edward Lampert, owns a majority stake in Sears Holdings.

Great associates to work with. Job was about finding parts for service technicians. Parts were available most times at parts stores, but other times, the technician had to get a part off of another technician's truck.

Pros and Cons
Friendly office environment.
Call center was on basement of building. We had to use stairs to get up to 1st floor

All jobs have their good and bad days. With Sears you knew that if your Monday started wrong, by Thursday you could get it back on track. You looked forward to working through the problems or kinks that got you off track. You always knew that with some teamwork whatever the problem was, it be corrected, or the ship could be up righted. With the Kmart purchase of Sears, you could see that "The powers that be" were HELLBENT on collapsing or destroying a good company. If the Corp Division had listened to the employees and went into the shipping business, AMAZON would not be the giant they are today. The company had a long, standing catalog that could have been used for creating a shipping Conglomerate. But instead Kmart wanted to be in the Real Estate business not the "Business of People." So, to say they took a company that could have made a come-back and drove it into the ground says a lot about the future of RETAIL in this country!

Pros and Cons
Whatever the Problem, the employees would come up with genius, ideas.
Kmart, was sent to destroy a historic company.

Started out as a CSA in the Auto Center in 2004. Moved up to Auto Center Manager. Step to to a cashier lead in the main store (there was more oppertunities for advancement). Moved up to the Operations Manager stayed in that position for 5yrs til my job was elimated. Left company to 1 yr and did loans at Advance America. Came back to Sears as a HL Zone Manager the moved up to Store General Manager until we closed our doors in Gadsden. During my 15 yrs at Sears I learned alot about every position in the store. I attended ASM Academy and many different events. I enjoyed my years at Sears and had that not closed the doors I would still be there. I had a goal and i actually achieved that one I would be the store Manager and i did it.

Pros and Cons
Met some great people the . I loved customer service and help others and the discounts was great
Our door closed. Service dept. Had a lot of issues

My separation from this company after 4 years was immediately followed by the termination of management personnel discovered to be responsible for it. The CEO milked this entity for all it was worth and his lack of experience in the retail and home products arena was vividly evident each and every day.

Pros and Cons
NONE TO SPEAK OF
Lack of direction and training, low wages.
