Description

The Security Officer is responsible for effective and efficient operation and delivery of quality customer service.

Prinicple Accountabilities:

1. Contributes to the goals and objectives of the team and communicates with other Facility Service teams and leaders to ensure that necessary services are provided within established time frames.
2. Support and be an active member of a multi-skilled team. Focuses on customer satisfaction, maintains flexibility to respond to pressing needs, and seeks continuous improvement of service.
3. Works with team members to develop a culture within the team which fosters performance to accomplish the vision and objectives of the hospital and department.
4. Actively supports and undertakes operation of proactive security, safety and fire programs, to ensure appropriate delivery of Public Service within budgetary and staffing guideline, regulatory agency, quality, productivity and overall departmental standards and goals.
5. Actively supports and undertakes operation of the life safety program, to promote the safety of all customers.
6. Supports team efforts that complete ongoing proactive security, safety and fire procedures.
7. Actively supports short and long range plans for the expansion, modification and repair of assigned areas.
8. Assists in annual preparation of departmental and team goals, objectives and budgets.
9. Exhibits a servant relationship with all customers.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Training in related security, safety, fire, business or related management field preferred.

Technical School degree or certification preferred.

Maintains all requirements for a security license by St. Louis County

Must be able to obtain a Uniformed-Unarmed Security Officer License from St. Louis County within 60 days or will be separated from employment. Possess a current state driver's license from state of residence with a minimum Class E type license.

Experience

Minimum two years in a health care related field preferred

Ability to be trained and to effectively use training in a team and customer focused environment.

Demonstrated ability in security, safety and/or fire operations and concepts.

Good working knowledge of proactive and reactive security, safety and fire programs.

Demonstrated team member ability, especially as related to coaching and working in a positive manner.

Conceptual understanding of the Facility Service functions.

Ability to execute verbal and written communications effectively.

Ability to work comfortably with department systems and programs.

Ability to work with and for people in a health care environment.

TASKS

  • Lock doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings.
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
