Directly responsible for the evaluation and decision to file suspicious activity reports and the review of high risk customers while implementing the corporate directive regarding compliance with all AML/BSA laws and regulations.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES: Analysis and Investigations Manage AML reporting systems to accurately reflect the Bank Secrecy Act requirements. Review all reports received for suspicious activity monitoring and determine if the report parameters are appropriate for the banks risk position.Analyze alerts escalated by the AML Analyst that were received through the anti-money laundering system. Complete a suspicious activity report as needed.Perform an analysis of manual daily, monthly and quarterly reports designed to detect suspicious activity to identify trends and unusual activity. Complete a suspicious activity report as needed.Review high risk customers and complete a suspicious activity report as needed. Contact branch personnel regarding customers who are subject to investigations, to gather information as applicable for determining suspicious activity and account closure.Maintain a proficient knowledge of rules and regulations, including but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Serve as a resource by providing AML compliance related research and subject matter expertise.Serve as a point of contact for USA Patriot Act 314(b) Information Sharing. Work with federal law enforcement agencies and financial institutions that solicit information regarding terrorist activity and money laundering according to procedures.Review criminal subpoenas received by the bank for suspicious activity. Work closely with Federal Law Enforcement Agencies with regards to ongoing investigations that may require formal request to maintain account relationship with individuals suspected of criminal activity. Analyze trends in suspicious activity reporting to determine any correlation between the variables. Analyze data in order to communicate findings to management and the board regarding branches with heightened risk for suspicious activity. Provide additional and enhanced BSA/AML training to high risk branches as needed. Business Partnership/Internal and external Respond to inquiries or refer inquiries to the appropriate department or person, and exhibit the necessary follow through with customers and/or staff involved.Advise the Bank’s Senior Management and Bank personnel of emerging AML issues and consult and guide the Bank in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks.Assist with regulatory agencies, law enforcement and/or auditor inquiries.Assist the VP, BSA/AML Manager in ensuring department activities run smoothly and efficiently by providing leadership and training within the department. All other duties as needed or required Assist in originating, implementing, and maintaining the Bank's AML Program to ensure conformity and adherence with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.Create reports for the Board of Directors detailing the Bank’s AML risk and trend related issues.Develop and maintain a working knowledge of banking laws and regulations by reading various publications and circulars; attend seminars and meetings with peers. Assist with developing, reviewing and periodically updating the institution’s BSA/AML compliance policies, procedures and program in accordance with BSA/AML laws and regulations as directed by the VP, BSA/AML Manager. Assist in completion of annual Risk Assessments of the relevant AML risks. Risks include but are not limited to those presented by the various types of accounts maintained at the bank, the types of products and services offered, the various methods of opening accounts or loans, the various methods for identifying different types of suspicious activity.Assume responsibility for special projects, gather data and prepare reports for senior management, audit, and other personnel.Assume responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.
