Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Leadership Growth Potential - Cloud - FT/Perm
The role is to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of the organization's IT assets in an on prem and MS Azure cloud environment reporting to the VP of IT. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing VM servers, network hardware, software, and communication links on prem in addition to the Azure cloud infrastructure including networking connections, servers, databases, SQL Servers, web servers, firewalls, VPNs and DNS.
Work to provide hands-on support for the Aviation Division MS Azure Cloud infrastructure servicing multiple public sector clients. Deploying applications in MS Azure production, test, demo and development environments Administration of user accounts, permissions, and access rights in AD. Provides "ownership" of problem thru final resolution. Monitor and ensure effectiveness of servers, including web, database and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software. Responsible for on-site and off-site data centers. Provide detailed guidance to junior team members where tasks can be delegated. Design and implement short- and long-term architecture to make certain infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements. Establish service level agreements with end users. Assess, approve, and administer all azure changes. Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems, VPN, load balancers, DNS and WAF. Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities. Manage Azure network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure. Test server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining server infrastructure.
Required Skills and Experience
Highly self-motivated and directed. Experience with the MS Azure Cloud infrastructure and networking. 7+ years of experience managing and configuring infrastructure, databases, firewalls and general network knowledge in a Microsoft environment. 2 years successful leadership as an infrastructure lead. Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including VM's, Active Directory, Group Policies, Virtualization, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery. Experience with PowerShell, provisioning automation, Hyper-V virtualization Hands-on experience troubleshooting cloud and windows server infrastructure. Experience with monitoring infrastructure servers and networking. Knowledge and understanding infrastructure architecture diagraming Experience with installation and configuration of IIS/SQL Server/SSIS/SSRS. DevOps experience a plus. Microsoft certifications a plus. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Four-year university degree or college diploma required, preferably in the field of computer science or other related academic fields
