Vector Laboratories is seeking a Senior Research Associate (SRA) who will be responsible for product development and product support. This position contributes to the innovation and evaluation of new product concepts and device of experimental approaches for their design and development. The SRA has extensive experience in protein characterization and bioconjugation and can independently apply this to practical applications in product development and support. The SRA uses judgment to solve complex problems and make recommendations for project direction. The SRA develops products according to prescribed Design Control requirements and develops products according to established procedures under our ISO9001/2015 Quality Plan. The SRA can effectively train and guide all levels of laboratory personnel, possesses sound judgment, is self-motivated and can work independently within a team environment. Responsibilities Include:
Guides product development through recommendation of experimental approach, design and execution Contributes to innovation by keeping abreast of current technology in pertinent fields Utilizes experience and knowledge to resolve technical issues with minimal supervision Leads Project teams in product development and support under Design Control regulations Calibrates, validates, and maintains complex laboratory equipment Ensures proper Design Control procedures and documentation requirements are followed Provides clearly written and complete documentation of experimental results; Writes and revises documents according to established requirements; Generates and presents reports to management as required Collates and analyzes complex data and provides clearly written and complete documentation of experimental results Represents the company at conferences and works with marketing to understand current customer opinions and needs Works with all functions within Vector Labs to launch new products Orders and restocks supplies Guides and trains junior staff Maintains a clean, orderly and safe laboratory environment following health and safety guidelines Performs other duties and projects as assigned
BS or BA degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline Minimum of 4 years of directly related laboratory experience Experienced in biochemical processes including chromatography, protein purification and characterization techniques, and bioconjugation Able to lead others and self-direct to make sound decisions and judgments Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and procedures Must be able to manage multiple priorities to achieve department and company objectives Proven ability to work well under pressure and time constraints while maintaining a high level of work quality Able to clearly communicate ideas, reasoning, and conclusions to a varied audience both verbally and in writing Ability to work with animal and human tissue/plasma/serum Ability to present effectively in meetings Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted
