Coram is a diverse, vibrant and innovative organisation.Created in 1739 by Royal Charter, we are the UK’s longest-serving children’s charity.Last year we worked directly with some 100,000 children and young people and reached 2.4m beneficiaries via adoption and fostering, legal practice and young people’s advocacy services. This work is delivered alongside the leading health education programme for children in the UK and national specialist advice services.

About the role 

The main purpose of this role is to secure and steward grants up to six-figures from trusts and foundations from a portfolio of existing donors; and to grow this area by securing new and multi-year support. Another aspect of the role will be to build up a portfolio of case stories from beneficiaries which can be used across the organisation.

Coram’s Fundraising team works to raise £3-4million for the charity each year and has just finished a £9.2m capital appeal to develop a national centre of excellence for children, ‘The Queen Elizabeth II Centre' on our regenerated, historic 3.5 acre Coram campus.T

We are looking for an exceptional bid writer who is also comfortable meeting with beneficiaries and compiling case stories. Your success as an income generator will be matched by the flexibility you bring to your work. You will also be a team player who is keen to learn from senior colleagues and share with those more junior than you. Coram is a complex and interesting organisation, so you will be eager to seek out the information you need and delve into the detail. Above all, your belief in giving children the best start in life will come across in the way to work with colleagues, prospects and funders alike.

Coram is based on our Bloomsbury campus, between Holborn and Kings Cross in central London.
