Shift Supervisor

As shift supervisors our responsibility is to oversee an organization unit's daily operations and employee performance during a particular time interval or shift. We usually work in a store, a restaurant, or a warehouse. We assign tasks to employees, ensure that operations run smoothly, motivate and assist team members, keep track of inventory, and regularly report to management about performance and any issues that may arise. We also handle customer complaints that occur during our shift.

Core tasks:

• assigning tasks to employees
• scheduling employee hours
• training new employees
• monitoring employee performance
• depending on shift, overseeing opening or closing of store/warehouse
• ensuring cleanliness of work environment
• managing inventory
• motivating employees to ensure sales/productions goals are met
• addressing customer complaints, and other customer service activities
• creating reports for management
