Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is an architecture, urban planning, and engineering company with offices around the world. Louis Skidmore and Nathaniel Owings founded it in Chicago in 1936. John O. Merrill, an architect, joined them in 1939. We are a group of architects, artists, developers, and planners who are working together to make the world a better place. Our company, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), is in charge of some of these projects in the most technologically and environmentally advanced buildings and significant public spaces in the world. Our method is strongly collaborative, and our multidisciplinary team is global. We are able to extend foreign experience at a local level thanks to our global network of artistic studios.
