About Social Services Assistant

What does a Social Services Assistant do?

As Social Services Assistants, we assist social workers in providing services to the community. It is our responsibility to identify individuals and families that need support. We analyze appropriate benefits available for individuals and brief them about it. We respond to queries about benefits available for people in need. We also conduct interviews with families to decide what services are appropriate for them. Our job is to connect families with counseling services, rehabilitation centers, and job training programs to get rid of their social and personal problems. We also keep record of clients and services provided to them. Submitting reports of issues is also a part of our duty.

Core tasks:

  • help social workers and mental health professionals to provide services to community members
  • identify appropriate services and benefits for individuals and families
  • conduct interviews to gather essential information used for allocation of benefits
  • prepare documentation and reports concerning provision of services and benefits
