What does a Software Engineer in Test do?

As Software Engineers In Test, we develop software for testing: tools, frameworks, and automated tests. We work directly with designers and product owners by contributing to planning and design, reviewing product code, formulating test scenarios. We also set up the infrastructure to run tests in CI/CD, parallel, and appropriate test data. We work directly with developers, product owners and develop test automation frameworks.

Core tasks:

  • automating test scenarios using the frameworks
  • setting up the infrastructure to run tests
  • developing dashboards for reporting test results in real-time
  • teaching others good quality and testing practices
  • creating tools to assist manual and exploratory testing
