What does a Software Test Engineer do?

As Software Test Engineers, we design test procedures that support the QA of computer programs. It is our duty to ensure that product performance meets the requirements before release, so we are mostly hired by software development firms. We evaluate software functions and protocols, suggest changes, and monitor performance.

Core tasks:

  • liaising with Development Managers
  • designing automated test procedures
  • writing test automation scripts
  • coding test programs
  • creating test reports
  • identifying issues
  • working together with software developers to resolve issues
  • troubleshooting issues
