The Specialist, Human Resources is a Generalist who reports to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, and is an effective and integral part of the HR Team and department. Essential functions i nclude, but are not limited to: Maintains a high level of integrity and confidentiality at all times; Manage the office of Human Resources on a day-to-day basis; As the first point of contact in the HR department, field and assist employees with HR-related issues and questions. Administer APTA’s benefit programs; Assist with recruitment and talent acquisition; Administer onboarding, new hire orientations, off-boarding, etc.; Assist with efforts, and serves on, APTA’s internal Fit, Serve, and, University teams; Effective liaison with HR vendors and is “the expert” with their various software platforms; Assist with maintaining accurate enrollment records for all employees in payroll and other vendor online systems; Assist in working with insurance broker on renewals, staff benefit issues, and enrollments; Coordinate annual open enrollment sessions; Other Duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of APTA and the HR Function. Process, verify, and maintain personnel related documentation, including staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, classifications, and employee leaves of absence.
Record data for each employee, including such information as addresses, weekly earnings, absences, amount of sales or production, supervisory reports on performance, and dates of and reasons for terminations.
Explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants.
Provide assistance in administering employee benefit programs and worker's compensation plans.
Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
