About Speech Language Pathology Assistant

What does a Speech Language Pathology Assistant do?

As Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, we assist the clinic’s speech-language pathologists during their patients’ screening processing. We assess the patient’s voice, language, fluency, articulation, or hearing while collecting and compiling appropriate data to document their performance. We also implement appropriate treatment plans and protocols as instructed by the speech-language pathologists, and assist them with the remediation or development of speech and language skills. We document our patients’ progress to ensure that it is meeting established treatment objectives.

Core tasks:

  • test and maintain the equipment to ensure its optimum performance
  • conduct in-service training sessions with family members
