Primary Purpose/Objectives of the Job:Oversee the days to day activities of the chemistry laboratory staff as a working lead and subject matter expert of chemical analysis. Assure approved laboratory Standard Operating Procedures are being followed and results are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Troubleshoot issues that arise. Develop new and optimize existing methods. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:?Extract, derive, and analyzes samples using wet chemistry or scientific equipment?Prepares and run assay samples on HPLC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, DMA and other instruments?Maintains the lab and calibrates equipment, including documentation of use and results. Enter data?Develop methods for improved testing?Identifies and investigates abnormal test results?Perform and document OOS investigation?Prepares study protocols, collect data, and present recommendations?Write related SOP?s?Train chemistry laboratory staff and assure that approved laboratory SOP?s are being followed?Work and communicate with production and customers when issues arise?Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines ?Follows all environmental, health and safety protocols?Provides support for all safety and environmental initiatives?Proactively attempts to prevent all accidents and eliminate all unsafe conditions?Demonstrates management?s commitment to safety?Able to develop new methods and validation protocols for existing analytical methods?Familiar with 21 CFR 11 cGMP and ISO 17025 Required Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experiences: (essential to the position) ?Education level: B.S. in Chemistry or Biology, M.S. preferred.?Work experience: Minimum of 7 years of lab experience in the chemical, food, or pharma industry. ?Preferred Experience: HPLC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and DMA testing, cGMP standards, ISO standards, & supervisory experience. ?Essential skills/knowledge: Strong leadership abilities, able to run analytical equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
