Location/Division Specific Information
The Sr. Director of Lean/PPI Business System is part of the Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Division in the Analytical Instruments Group. The person in this role may be based remotely anywhere within the United States, with Eastern and Midwest locations being most ideal. Travel expectation is approximately 30%, including both domestic and international.

How will you make an impact?
As the Senior Director-Lean/PPI you ll lead a team of continuous improvement specialists who support key sites, businesses and SG&A teams through lean transformations through deep deployment of the PPI Business System. The team helps businesses develop and execute their strategic plans, create PPI roadmaps and develop a continuous improvement culture to consistently meet their goals relative to profitable growth, customer allegiance, productivity and quality. The team also plays a major role in taking the PPI model to the next level of impact.

What will you do?

  • Lead the team of Lean / PPI specialists who have a major impact on the overall business by:
    • Working with functional and SG&A teams to streamline processes to improve the customer experience, enable profitable growth and become more efficient.
    • Facilitating/enabling the implementation of the PPI Business System to enable key businesses and sites to become true model sites and businesses.
    • Diplomatically cultivate an action-biased culture of continuous improvement to improve KPIs, in the areas of customer, finance, people and quality.
    • Establish and mature the Lean Management System (tiered daily management systems, gemba walks, and leader standard work) and other coaching tools to transform the culture.
  • Provide support to develop lean expertise and capability within the organization at all levels
  • Improve the decision-making model and problem solving capabilities within high performance teams to increase autonomy and the pace of change
  • Work closely with business leadership and PPI steering committees to identify ways to accelerate the culture change necessary to support the PPI Business System.
  • Provide ongoing Lean support to multiple teams
  • Work with the expanded team to develop/promote/standardize the PPI Business System further.
How will you get here?
Education
  • Bachelor s degree in engineering, science, operations or business
  • MBA degree preferred
Experience
  • A Lean Expert with an 8+ years of experience and a hands-on track record of implementing successful TPS-based business systems
  • Experience with multi-functional, multi-site, global organizational processes and financial business methods (SIOP, Customer Connections, Strategic Sourcing, etc.)
  • Proven track record for developing, training, and coaching teams
  • Solid executive presence with an ability to connect with and positively influence senior leaders.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • A holistic thinker who can look enterprise-wide to integrate and streamline systems for optimal benefit.
  • Able to drive strategic thinking and continuous improvement in both operational and non-operational areas, including connecting the cross-functional resources to remove waste along the extended value streams.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
