Field Engineer supporting SSGN and Trident II Launching Systems in Kings Bay, GA. Provide EHS, Training/Certification assistance, and documentation management during the installation, check-out/testing, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of equipment associated with Trident II Missile Launcher and Handling Equipment. Provide guidance and training to Field personnel on higher order requirements as it relates to Environmental, Health and Safety programs. Champion local safety program and provide management/oversight of Field Safety Programs. Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment. Maintains federal and local hazardous waste requirements. Coordinates with contracted medical facilities to schedule certification/qualification medical appointments, testing, and follow ups. Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or State regulatory inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation with the local government customer. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities. Conducts safe work procedures training courses.
Designs, schedules, delivers and tracks technical training with associated contracted training support and internal Northrop Grumman training systems. Establishes training and education modules and ensure consistency in the delivery of technical training and on-boarding. Provide guidance and training to customer personnel in operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques. Partners with the functional area, develops training materials, and knowledge assessments, for area standard operation procedures (SOP's) and coordinates knowledge assessment. Utilizes training authoring and multimedia tools and software for assigned development projects.
Coordinates with on-site Technical Editor/Writer and Engineers to writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Conducts quality review of materials/documents. Maintains inventories of publications at site and coordinates changes to documentation with local technical library and technical writers.
Additional tasks may include providing support at other field sites such as shipyards and test facilities, and supporting various customer meetings at both NGMS Marine Systems and customer locations.
Periodic shift work may be required based on customer requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
9+ Years of Field Engineering experience with a Bachelors; 7+ Years with a Masters; or 15+ years of Field Engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
8years of experience administering EHS programs, Training programs and Technical documentation development
Ability to Obtain and Maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering or related field.
Experience in operating in a government-owned facility.
Experience with Strategic System Program (SSP) operations and the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program.
Experience managing an EHS program, training programs and technical documentation libraries and development.
Knowledgeable in all OSHA standards and state safety regulations
