Position Summary

As a member of a multidiscipline team, the Senior Reliability Operator operates and maintains the process and utilities systems in a safe and competent manner. The Senior Reliability Operator is self-motivated, managed and engaged in the planning process. They demonstrate to peers and the Operations Lead ownership of the facility equipment and systems. The role assures minimum impact on the facility operations and demonstrates good environmental stewardship to assist with the delivery of production targets and maintain compliance with Group Practice as defined in Hess Operational Excellence Expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding around Personal and Process Safety.

  • Assuring any work undertaken personally or by co-workers is done with a driven purpose to eliminate or reduce risk from the workplace.

  • Completing operations in accordance with regulatory requirements, company controls and guidelines.

  • Participating in meetings as designated by the agreed terms of reference (TORs).

  • Participating in root-cause failure investigations as required to prevent recurrence and help identify trigger events as failure cause.

  • Working with the Logistic Specialist/Scheduler (LS), Planner and Material Coordinator to assure information is correct in the work orders (e.g., the correct parts are available, and the work capacities are correct).

  • Assuring the technical integrity and maintenance standards of equipment.

  • Actively engaging in the sharing of technical knowledge with team members.

  • Assuring quality work order close-out with necessary attachments, pictures, and long text updates for completed work.

  • Preparing process equipment for maintenance by applying isolations/venting in accordance with Hess policies and procedures.

  • Inspecting and confirming suitability to return to normal service, prior to the startup of any process equipment.

  • Strive every day to ensure any work undertaken personally or by co-workers is done with a driven purpose to eliminate or reduce risk from the workplace.

  • Ensure operations are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements, company controls and guidelines.

  • Contribute to the safe and efficient operations through competent operations and maintenance of process systems and associated equipment.

  • Comply with the Bureau Safety Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulations.

PRODUCTION AND TECHNICAL INTEGRITY PERFORMANCE

  • Perform day-to-day management of operational priorities, taking direct instruction from the Operation Lead and Process Specialist for maintaining integrity of the facilities and production optimization.

  • Monitor and adjust production and injection well flow and pressure of the separation vessels, produced water handling, crude oil-to-export, gas compression, dehydration, and oil/gas distribution.

  • Operating, monitoring, and adjusting production, utility, safety and control systems and equipment

  • Provide operations input to projects and turnaround (TAR) preparation as required.

  • Complying with the Hess Work Management process in SAP for all work on the facility.

  • Reporting potential process safety and operational optimization issues to the appropriate level.

  • Provide process troubleshooting and incident investigation support.

  • Working with the team to assure complete job plans and work packs, ensuring there are no gaps in work orders and all information is correct prior to being progressed

  • Maintaining full engagement and compliance with the System Ownership plan (autonomous maintenance).

OPERATIONS EXCELLENCE

  • Actively participate in the Hess Continuous Improvement (CI) process, striving to improve operating and run-time efficiency.

  • Ensure the technical integrity of instrument equipment and maintenance standards.

  • Recommend changes to the maintenance strategy, policy and procedures as required and in compliance with the Management of Change (MOC) process.

  • Be aware of, and challenge, all maintenance and consumable costs incurred within the operations team production activities.

  • Actively engage in coaching and sharing of technical knowledge with team members.

PERFORMANCE

  • Become familiar with and demonstrate understanding of the Hess Competency Management System for GoM. (Refer to the E&P Competence Assurance & Training Standard as well as the GoM Technician Competency Matrix.)

  • Understand and comply with BSEE GoM regulatory requirements of Elements 6 & 7 as defined by Hess for competence requirements within this role/discipline.

  • Review and become aware of the competency profile for the role and training requirements, with agreement to work with qualified competency assessor(s) to determine capability measured against the Hess Standard for GoM.

  • Maintain ownership and tracking of personnel training / learning and career development.

  • Work with RS to achieve access to next role competencies in order to continuously improve skills and promote within the organization as openings become available.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

  • Understand assignment and act as a member of the emergency response team and comply with the responsibilities assigned as defined in the Emergency Response Plan (ERP).

  • Participate in emergency response exercises to ensure a full understanding and demonstrated capability of the ERP process and procedures.

  • Follow the orders of the On-Scene Incident Commander in the event of any emergency onboard the facility.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years offshore and industry experience with Production Operations required

  • 5+ years of Control Room Topside and Subsea experience preferred

  • Must have good teamwork and leadership skills

  • Must be independent/ autonomous, requiring little day-to-day guidance

  • Strong Knowledge of BSEE 14C and 30 CFR (T-2 Safety System Training)

  • Strong PC application skills (esp. Excel, Word)

  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organization skills

Education/Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 2-year Associates of Science in Petroleum, Process or related degree preferred
