Job Summary:

The Sr. UI Designer is a versatile UI designer who is responsible for building components and guides for our design language system while designing the UI for a product suite. This position will define the visual design for CDI's product suite and lay the foundation for the UI design direction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, design, document, implement, maintain assets into a design language system for a variety of products.
  • Use Figma, Creative Cloud, and After Effects to create assets.
  • Produce high-quality assets such as UI components in Figma, iconography, graphics, 2D animations and templates.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to UI designers and other content developers, oversee planning and documentation.
  • Work with content developers to ensure proper implementation according to system specifications.
  • Work with business development to support their needs in the form of branding, websites, slick sheets, prototypes, and presentations.
  • Participate in the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the UX design, and usability.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues during development and participate in content integration efforts.
  • Work within deadline and budgetary constraints.
  • Responsible for maintaining a cohesive look across a suite of software products.
  • Offer feedback to management on ways to improve workflows and processes and help enforce these with the team.
  • Participate in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) ceremonies including in-person PI planning events.


Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year degree in an appropriate major such as User Interface Design, Visual Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or Digital Arts. Must have experience as a team member on three or more full application software life cycles, from concept to ship, preferentially in a lead role on at least one cycle. Must have the ability to design complex mockups and layouts to present design vision. Must have expert level presentation and communication skills including being able to present to all levels of employee, including upper management. Must have the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with UX Designers, PMs, engineers, and QA teams. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines. Must be a US Citizen and have the ability obtain a security clearance.

The Work Environment:

The UX|UI team supports multiple products from cutting edge DARPA programs to military and commercial FMV software. We are responsible for the user research, UX design, UI design and development of our products. As a Sr. UI Designer, you will be expected to support several products with a design language system that is in development. Our team is fully remote, with occasional in person events such as PI planning held in the DC area, requiring some travel quarterly.

  • Install and configure hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) servers and associated operating systems.
  • Research, document, rate, or select alternatives for Web architecture or technologies.
  • Develop system interaction or sequence diagrams.
