What does a Stagehand do?
As Stagehands, we are tasked with moving, setting up, and testing various lighting, sound, props equipment as well as other specialized equipment and ensure that they comply with the client’s established requirements. We also build sets and perform a variety of backstage and maintenance tasks such as helping with the storage of the show’s equipment and assist the janitor in cleaning the area. We assemble the equipment and support structures before the show, ensure that everything works fine during the show, and breaking them down when the show is over. We also work with the client’s marketing team to place signs or banners inside and around the production venue.
Core tasks:
- make set quick adjustments based on the client’s request as required
- inspect the sound, lighting, and other equipment and plug them into an emergency generator as required
