Starbucks Company Reviews and Ratings
July 9, 2024
For how much work I put into this company, I got zero respect or recognition in return. The hours were mid, the pay was mid as it’s nearly impossible to get a raise, the coworkers and shift leads and managers were rude and disrespectful at almost every store I worked at, they’re so tough and strict on you for how little you get paid, I wouldn’t recommend working here to anybody. There are better coffee places to work at. Honestly any coffee place would probably be better.
Pros and Cons
free food and drinks

The fast pace and the challenge to learn and get things done at a certain time was great helped with growth and helped with mindset to challenge yourself everyday.
Pros and Cons
Free lunch, discounts, flexible schedule
Have to call that your going to be 1 min late otherwise it counts as no call no show.

I had months where I loved my job and loved the people I worked with. I had months where I hated my job and the customers that I dealt with. I still won't go back to Haddonfield after having worked there.
Ultimately, there's not enough machines/baristas/support for the sheer amount of volume that the stores were expected to handle.
Management and feelings about management are going to hugely vary between stores.
Pros and Cons
Healthcare, ASU tuition plan, free weekly food and markouts, Queer friendly
Abusive customers, lack of support, frequent machine breakdowns

They were implementing this "rule" where the number of hours a store was allowed to schedule was based on the number of transactions our store was able to complete. Because of that, we never were allowed to have more than 3-4 people during peak hours and we were consistently understaffed. When anyone brought this up to the higher managers, they were silenced at best and fired at worst. I do not recommend working for this company.
Pros and Cons
a free drink each day and 1lb of free coffee beans each week.
purposely understaffed by district managers.

When I worked at Starbucks I can’t lie that I had a lot of fun but not without a lot of problems too. When you work here you get to experience different things about the business with the training you have to do only. Also meet a lot of fun and creative people. You get choose if you want to work night or morning and if you want to work extra hours. unfortunately, my experience was kind of hectic with young shift lead who had pretty much problems with almost everyone just simple things like spreading rumors or tattling on people who don’t do anything wrong, including me and others around that coworker. Honestly, it is not a bad job. You just have to find the right place to work at.
Pros and Cons
50% off of everything! 1 free food item and drink per day!
Lack of communication with staff, doesn’t listen to newer staff about issues.

This company will grind you into the concrete of its drive thru before they give a second glance at their unfair treatment to the employees keeping their stores running. Managers will sit you down and tell you that your work is subpar and follow that up with some lame forced compliments to try and keep their good faces on. They’re so bent on ‘making the moment right’ for the ungrateful horrible and disgusting people that lie through their teeth about what they ordered so they get free stuff.
This company will physically and mentally destroy you. There is zero support, the wage is not on the same level of the expectations. You’re flat out not paid enough for the amount of ridiculous nonsense you have to put up with on the daily. Hard work is awarded with more hard work and the heavy load of everybody else’s job in the store, so when you finally say enough is enough they will kick you to the curb.
Pros and Cons
Absolutely Nothing
Literally Everything

I worked for Starbucks 4 years, 3 of those in Portland, Oregon. I enjoyed the opportunities I had to connect with customers and co-workers throughout my time and I enjoyed the often fast-paced work-flow. However, I would sadly state that the company has become more and more "cookie-cutter," cliche and is a far cry from where it started in its values for people and community.
Pros and Cons
Fun, fast-paced, good opportuintes to relate brielfy with people amidst the business
Clutural Values often not reflected in the day to day lived out work experience.

*The ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure *The ability to sell products and services *The ability to work well with others *The ability to work on my own *The ability to work well with my hands

Other barista's are your best friend if you work at Starbucks. They can make or break your shift. However, management only care about the bottom line and will only have enough staff to just cover the entire store. If there is a call out, someone needs to go home, or it's just extra busy, there is no one extra to back you up.
Pros and Cons
free spotify, ASU credit covered by company, free drinks entire shift, 7 free food items
company does not care about employees

Working with partners and building connections was a great part of the job along with benefits. But the job itself is exhausting. You aren't paid well as an ASM, you are expected to be on call for the store so you have no work life balance. You are also pressured to make baristas happy but also pressured to meet upper management's goals which are sometimes contradicting and unrealistic.
Pros and Cons
Good benefits, great co-workers, free coffee
Unrealistic expectations from upper management, no work/life balance

When I worked at Starbucks a couple of years ago, it was a love-hate relationship. I enjoyed some of the customers, others not so much, and my body would be totally exhausted by the end of the day. Some of the benefits were nice, the best one was the free college however. It did stink because you had to pay out of pocket, then they would reimburse you. Now this is no longer the case, and Starbucks pays the tuition up front. I also did not think that the job was worth the pay, but my old co-workers let me know that the pay has significantly increased. I think this is the best job for teenagers and for young adults. You can grow if you work hard enough and put in the time. I was offered several times to have my own store, and be a Store Manager, but I noticed once you get to this position, it usually takes forever to move up, as there will be 6-7 SM's under one district managers, and a lot of times they would hire DM's from outside the company.
Pros and Cons
Free college, pay (Now), some of the benefits, constant growth
Sometimes toxic work relationships, Annoying customers, physically taxing

I thoroughly enjoyed working at Starbucks because of the atmosphere my coworkers and shift leads created. However, I struggled with management, as did all of my coworkers. The turn over rate was extraordinary, and I felt as though my time was not respected. At the time, I was a full-time student working part time. The job itself - making drinks, interacting with regular customers, etc - was amazing, and something I miss. If management and company empathy were improved, I could imagine this being an ideal work environment.
Pros and Cons
Discounts, making drinks was fun, amazing coworkers

Considering that it is a fast beverage/food store it was relatively un-stressful for me and the duration of my time there. My manager did a fantastic job curating the partners who worked there and they were all lovely. I cannot speak for other locations but the Bothell location was amazing and I wish I never had to leave. (i moved)

Tenured employee, over 16 years of service. The DM does not take the time to develop and offer an apportunity for growth. They do not care about you even tought "empathy" is one of the behaviors they teach us to use.
No chance of growth, they promote only if you're in their clique. Very desapointed as previously this was not who they were.

No potential for advancement, overworked, underpaid

I had very bad experience with the shift manager and the branch manager of the branch. I had mental harassment in regards to time, ten minutes break, punching time etc I had Asked for transfer, was denied for no reason, just because I was delayed by 15 minutes due to very bad weather connection. If I said anything, I was Huss up. Was not given scope to place my point of view. Only I was supposed to listen to them. I don’t know what more to say!!

Oxford, OH - March 28, 2022
I worked as a student manager at a licensed store run by Miami University. I had a lot of fun working there and with hard work was able to move up in positions pretty fast. As I moved up the pay did not seem to equal the amount of work I was putting in and since I was a student at the time I did not receive the respect I thought I deserved. I was only able to work a certain amount of hours and did not receive any of the benefits give in the corporate stores. Because of this I ended up leaving the job.
Pros and Cons
Great coworker relationships, fun work place
no parking, no food/drinks provided during shifts other than water, bad pay

I had entered a new job site with the hopes to progress what I had left behind for a year. I had focused that year in a large Lowe's warehouse in which I could greatly improve my customer service. I managed to deal with customer service and get to know the local staff. A mention of weekend team seemed like the perfect fit a conversation I had mentioned through word of mouth to my supervisor. Starbucks had just been posted on Google local available recruiter's postings and my previous Serv Safe Certificate had me feeling like yes, this could be just what I needed to accumulate more hours. I wasn't sure who I'd be meeting this time around, I had just passed by Lowe's Home Improvement for the discussions involving hours I was to aquire soon at Starbucks. So one thing led to another and this time around mention of attire displeased the supervisor and she began to discriminate. I left Lowe's for Starbucks and somehow was told my year waiting around was easily predictable.
Pros and Cons

The benefits were terrific
I was with them for 19 yrs, let go my 4th day back from an emergency medical issue
The pandemic made them realize- but too late on the game how hard the rest of staff worked - short on staff, product and upsetting the staff & customers - product shortage was very frustrating for all
You can have a fun time - but be prepared to work hard & multitask
I have made lifetime friends and learned a lot of life lessons

I loved working for Starbucks however the pay is for but management works with you on your schedule. The only issue I find with Starbucks is that they do not train their management staff and what they call their shift supervisors properly. Starbucks needs to learn to send their managers and their shift supervisors for training in human resources and how to treat people right. Not all but some of the management staff needs extreme training and how to deal with people and customers.
Pros and Cons

Working for Starbuck’s was one of the most memorable jobs (next to Disney) I have ever worked. It turned out to be not only a great place to learn about coffee and all the hand crafted espresso beverages, but also a really nice “networking engine” for me as I acquired two other job positions through people who were my “Starbuck’s neighbors”.
Pros and Cons

Starbucks pays poorly, doesn’t support their baristas and overworks their supervisors. Everything depends on how good your store manager is and if they don’t care about you, your life is a living hell. Inconsistent hours, inconsistent support and you can never count on them to communicate with you. Too corporate and too obsessed with the customers.

This job and your happiness purely depends on who your manager is and whom your shift leaders are. Its that simple my life was great until they changed management and when I got a phone call from the hospital saying my brother was dying I asked my then manager if I could leave to go to the hospital he looked me in my tear soaked face and said "Your brother has nothing to do with your job" and that I needed to go back to work. After working 17 hour shifts during the pandemic to help the company as much as I could I decided it was time to leave.
