At first I loved it but as the company started to move to Arizona,,Texas and Georgia they went after people to purposely fire them I know many long time employees they really got screwed over. They fired people they also falsely accused a couple people of doing things just to get rid of them. It’s a shame that they had to mess with peoples lives like that. Definitely not a good neighbor.

State Farm centralized its field claims force and many people lost their jobs, retired early or were forced to relocate, all while the company was still making millions upon millions in profit. Lives were disrupted.

this was a nice job if you found an office not run by family members. I suggest you find an agent that has years of experience as most agents aren't available to you.

Have a disability for my life, mother died got cancer, manager per their lawyer decided she did not believe I had a problem forced me to take English classes. I am MD, speaking fluent English and Spanish. Even told CEO apparently agrees manager is correct but ADA rules were clearly broken.

I work for State Farm through Catastrophe Management and State Farm is a great company that actually values their customers and employees. I didnt mind going to work at all. There were always daily incentives to make you want to be part of the Team and excell.

It was a nice experience, but not enough to retain good talent. If you could survive with what they pay until you become an agent, it is a good place to be.

I worked for up to FIVE agents back in the early mid 90's. Was great learning their system doing auto, fire, earthquake, BHI and Universal life insurance. I was part time working from 8-2 during the week and taking care of my infant son. Unfortunately I was there RIGHT when the Northridge earthquake hit and the Laguna fires which caused corporate to ban agents writing any new fire business and all had to reduce fire/earthquake exposure by 4% per agency. I say up to 5 agents because once I'd get an agent caught up with their paperwork and apps to the RO then get laid off. As a musician, I'd decided to no longer pursue SF after the last "lay off" because I'd started playing gigs in Palm Springs regularly plus my student business picked up to where I no longer needed a non music day job. That said, I'd still like to work a State Farm agency today but alas NOW California no longer allows non licensed staff to work in an insurance office, so I'm stuck.

Traditional "Good Neighbor" has disappeared in order to become nothing more than a boiler plate profit center. Actual Customer Service is almost nonexistent, because actually handling claims takes too long. Team handling is not customer centric, employees only only focus is to push numbers so that profit sheet looks good. Training is slap dab, and each location for claims runs by its' own rules, no continuity or understanding of the policy, laws and statutes, as claims are shoved down both insureds' and claimants' throats.

State Farm has gone through so many changes . Not benefiting the employees. Ot / Performance reviews and short changed. New Management trying to prove their position- undermining the employees. It is not a comfortable environment. Employees unable to make or give feedback concerned for their job if they do.
