As State Troopers, we are responsible for promoting traffic safety and enforcing vehicle laws in a state. We give tickets and arrest people who violate federal or state laws. We respond to traffic accidents and educate people and communities about laws and safety concerns. We prepare court reports and serve as backup for county and local police officers. Enforcing laws that promote public safety and conducting investigations of accidents is part of our main responsibilities. We enforce laws on heavy motor vehicles and drive patrol cars in all weather conditions. Working as State Troopers, we observe the operation and condition of vehicles to ascertain compliance with laws. We also assist stranded and injured motorists by helping them with minor vehicle repairs.
