The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Injury and Violence Prevention (IVP) Section in Portland, OR is recruiting for a SUDORS Data Abstractor to coordinate administrative functions for the State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) component of the Oregon Violent Death Reporting System. The Injury & Violence Prevention Section focuses on the identification and prevention of morbidity and mortality due to injury among Oregonians. The IVP section maintains an injury data information system from primary and secondary sources of data on injury problems and they work in multi-disciplinary partnerships to develop prevention activities to reduce morbidity and mortality due to injury.
What will you do?
As the SUDORS Data Abstractor, you will develop and maintain procedures and systems to promote efficient flow of information and documents from data providers into the SUDORS/CDC National Violent Death Reporting System. You will request, gather, organize, analyze and abstract data related to overdose-related deaths in Oregon, ensure that case information is entered into the database within required time frames, and confirm information meets quality standards. This position also tracks legislative bills related to overdose and overdose prevention.

What are we looking for?
Requested Skills
Three years of clerical/secretarial experience that included two years at a full performance level performing typing, word processing, or other generation of documents AND lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures. (Courses or training in Office Occupations or Office Technology may be substituted for up to one year of the clerical/secretarial experience.)
Preference will be given to applicants with experience as a first respond-er and knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Experience practicing emotional intelligence to manage potential emotional and physical impact resulting from exposure to information which may cause vicarious trauma.
Experience reviewing reports, comprehending and synthesizing complex information, and writing brief narrative summary reports.
Must possess a high level of accuracy when entering data.
Experienceing coding standards for complex data systems.
Experience developing and maintaining confidential filing systems.
