Position Responsibilities Blackboard s Supply Chain team purchases items to be used by both our internal and external customers. The Intern will work in a fast paced environment, and interface directly with our sales and management teams to fulfill the needs of our customers in a timely manner. We are looking for a team player with a can-do attitude to intern with our Supply Chain team. In general this internship role is responsible for the procurement of materials requisitioned for corporate purchases and other company operations, within defined policies and procedures.
The Supply Chain Intern will play an integral role in the success of the group. Specifically s/he will be responsible for:
  • Process corporate purchases.
  • Expedite and follow through on orders placed.
  • Process company receiving.
  • Process system adjustments.
  • Approves 3rd party vendor invoices for payment.
  • Assist in the management of data and reports that enhance Supply Chain operations.

  • Supply Chain/Procurement day-to-day operations
  • Order processing, supplier management
  • ERP systems operation
  • Sourcing data organization and analysis
  • Customer service
Professional QualificationsRequired Skills:
  • Current enrollment and attendance (at time of internship) in a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or relevant college Business Management program.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and short term and long term planning skills.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications and effective utilizing technology applications.

Tasks

  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel involved in, or directly relevant to, a logistics activity.
  • Develop an understanding of customers' needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met.
  • Manage subcontractor activities, reviewing proposals, developing performance specifications, and serving as liaisons between subcontractors and organizations.

  • Direct team activities, establishing task priorities, scheduling and tracking work assignments, providing guidance, and ensuring the availability of resources.
  • Perform managerial duties such as hiring and training employees and overseeing facility needs or requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements, to take advantage of sales opportunities or, in the case of shortages, to minimize negative impacts on a business.

  • Protect and control proprietary materials.
  • Stay informed of logistics technology advances and apply appropriate technology to improve logistics processes.

  • Manage the logistical aspects of product life cycles, including coordination or provisioning of samples, and the minimization of obsolescence.
  • Perform system lifecycle cost analysis and develop component studies.
  • Plan, organize, and execute logistics support activities, such as maintenance planning, repair analysis, and test equipment recommendations.
  • Participate in the assessment and review of design alternatives and design change proposal impacts.
  • Direct and support the compilation and analysis of technical source data necessary for product development.
  • Support the development of training materials and technical manuals.
