Worked 23 years in the field- great folks- professionally run- but you’re often left to the issues of the supply chain I would recommend it- They take care of their employees

Pros and Cons
Freedom, paid days off, vacation time

Bad decision. Don’t care about drivers, only care about the load getting delivered. Some stops are horrible. Have to climb steps or go in dark basements of restaurants, etc. some places are difficult to get the products in there but they don’t care

Pros and Cons
Free water to take with you during summer seasons
Forced dispatch, pallets never in order, some fall over while driving, dispatch don’t care

I worked at the Houston location from 2014-19 , the moment there was a switch in the management everything fell apart. I was fired because I reported the VP of operation of our division (joe) to Corporate with great evidence of him abusing us with his position and power and talked to us like animals, scumbags and lowlife because we doing the physical duties. Everyone was quiet because they didn’t want to loose their job, he destroyed that division with his toxic and dictating energy. Some on bursted a bag of sugar and I forgot to replace the bag and I was fired, No verbal,No written, no final warning but terminated and not eligible for rehire when clearly if anyone walks through the warehouse, I was the best in my department. I was blacked ball by weak men that had control issues and feel like their position make them better than us. I worked with a bunch of individuals that were terrified to voice their honest opinion but call themselves HU-man’s, preach open door policy but all BS

Sysco was overall a decent place to work. The opportunity for advancement in regards to safety professionals is very slim. During the pandemic it was a pretty safe place to work, due to the drop in restaurants there was some layoffs which is why I chose to find a more stable industry.

Most local management are good and well intentioned. Corp is overbearing in their controls and local mgmt are obliged to adhere to policy/procedure whether they agree or not. Good benefits. Strong company, good training(Initial & Ongoing). Over time company seems to be going away from a customer first approach.

Pros and Cons
Benefits. Stable company.
Micromanagement from the top.
