System Director, Revenue Integrity and Health Information Management

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for the organization-wide management of Revenue Integrity and Health Information Management including accurate charge capture and reconciliation, Revenue Cycle Analytics, CDM coding updates, and resolving pre-bill coding edits to facilitate clean claims and optimal revenue capture. This position serves as an expert within the revenue cycle for Revenue Integrity and provides a bridge between programs and revenue cycle areas to support quality client care and revenue cycle objectives.

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for coding trends

  • Responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of client net revenue realization and minimizing revenue leakage across the organization

  • Work collaboratively with Revenue Cycle Leadership, Program Department Leadership and Staff to ensure complaint revenue optimization through comprehensive capture of client revenue in areas generating charges (including revenue and charge reconciliation) and EHR management in relation to charging mechanisms and triggers

  • Direct and partner with HIM audit and education/training staff to facilitate enhancements in coding, documentation and charge capture

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes impacting charging practices

  • Maintain QA statistics as needed and reports results to Revenue Cycle VP as needed

  • Directly oversee the daily activities of the RI and HIM staff to ensure department standards are met

  • Track, trend, and analyze unbilled report and give feedback to HIM team regarding identified issues

  • Monitor all department assigned edits and work flows to adhere to prescribed completion time frames

  • Provide regulatory coding and billing support to address coding, charge capture and billing concerns

  • Train RI staff in work flow resolution and serve as a subject matter expert for direct reports and internal departments when needed

  • Work with other System Directors and departments to reduce trends and systematic issues that impact charge capture

  • Establishe, monitor, and ensure staff productivity in day to day task including timeliness of work flows edit resolution

  • Develop, implement, and perform analysis of standard work for department

  • Support development and execution of practical strategies to secure optimal charge capture and charge compliance

  • Provide resources as appropriate to assist other areas in the Revenue Cycle to complete projects

  • Take personal initiative to bring forward process/performance improvements as identified

  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and performance management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Education requirements may be waived by way of comparable experience on a case-by-case basis

  • 5 years of coding and reimbursement experience required

  • 5 years of Management/Supervisory Experience required

  • Pre-bill edits and Chargemaster or Revenue Cycle experience required

  • Strong analytical, communication and organization skills and the ability to work effectively with other leaders to achieve business objectives is required

  • Strong business skills, including strategic planning, executive presentation skills and business financial acumen

  • Experience in report generation, data collection systems and analysis techniques
