About Systems Technician

What does a Systems Technician do?

As Systems Technicians, we support users with issues related to computer systems. We install, configure, and test computer systems. We oversee and manage hardware, software, and network components. We ensure the installation and maintenance of hardware and software related to computer systems. We liaise with managers to ascertain user requirements. We troubleshoot issues with network systems, software, and hardware. We provide technical advice and explanation as required. We assist in training related to technical issues. We also make repairs and respond to support calls. We perform system diagnostics. We calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment. We perform assigned system commissioning.

Core tasks:

  • troubleshoot basic electrical, and controls problems
  • respond to basic warranty calls
  • perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics
