New York-based Teach For America is a national nonprofit organization supporting the academic and personal growth of children. TFA seeks educators who believe in the potential of children and are committed to teaching in low-income public schools, beginning with at least two years. If you join TFA, you will forge connections and cultivate relationships in partnership with students and families, inside and outside of schools. The TFA mindset is based on the idea that every child has an equal opportunity to learn and thrive. The organization encourages corps to confront educational inequity through teaching. With nearly 62,000 people in the TFA alumni and corps member network, the organization is present in 53 communities across the country, from large cities to rural communities including Boston, Hawai'i, South Dakota and Rio Grande Valley. TFA was founded by CEO Wendy Kopp in 1990.
