What does a Technical Sales Manager do?

As technical sales managers, we are sales professionals specializing in selling technical services and products. We demonstrate to prospective and existing customers how our organization’s solutions will answer their business needs, and we manage the sales cycle to closing. Our performance is usually measured against set targets. Apart from the traditional sales skillset, we need to have technical expertise, at least to the extent to be able to synthesize key information and facilitate technical conversation.

  • building and actively maintaining client relations
  • developing and implementing sales strategies, action plans
  • setting and tracking sales targets
  • actively pursuing new business opportunities
  • managing, developing, and coaching sales force
