Established in 1933 by Congress, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is addressing a huge array of environmental, economic as well as technological issues, including the desire for low-cost electricity, and navigation and flood control along the Tennessee River system. Since its inception, the company is continuously working towards making the life better for the people of Tennessee Valley region spanning over 80,000 square miles across parts of seven states in the Southeast. Every day the company strives to enhance populace lives by rendering safe, clean, reliable and affordable electricity; supporting a robust, award-winning economic development policy that has created prosperous communities throughout the region; and upholding an environmental stewardship program creating some of the most beautiful and productive waterways in the US.
