Was employed at the fabrication Division as a QA Inspector on the AWACS E3A Radome Fabrication and Assembly Program. When the tooling programs for the 757 and 767 were initiated I was first located at the LYV Plant in Grand Prairie, Texas as the Being QA Field Representative for the 757 Tooling Program. After approximately three years when the 757 programs wrapped up, I was relocated to LA., California. In Los Angeles, I was the QA Field Representative at Rockwell International, which was the prime subcontractor for the Boeing 767 tooling program. In 1980, I again relocated to Long Island New York, As the Boeing Aerospace QA Field Representative covering supplies: Grumman, Miltope, IBM, Hazeltine, etc. I enjoyed every City, State, and subcontractor I had the pleasure of working with. Boeing was very generous with salary and perks like leased company cars and housing allowances. I had the greatest support system and management an employee could hope for.

Pros and Cons
Travel, bacically my own boss, and a lot of great people both Boeing and Subcontractors.
None that I remember except it was difficult getting off the road and back to my home in Seattle, WA

I've worked at The Boeing Company in Long Beach for 27 years 2 months and The Boeing Company in Everett, Washington for 5 months. I have lots of fun with my coworkers, my managements including Sr. Management. We shared the upside and downside of the company, and we grew up together to make it great! We have most of the support from management including the mechanics work on the aircraft. We treated each other well like a family!

Pros and Cons
Close to office parking place with the years of service, free lunch occasionaly
Relocate sometimes is a must!

I worked at Boeing as a QA Investigative Analyst for the last 4 years of my 14 with the company. I was hand picked by the manager of the group along with several others to form this team. Nothing but great things to say! Unfortunately I was laid off after 9/11.

Pros and Cons
Great salary, benefits, people, working conditions

I worked at the Boeing Company for just over 30 years and loved the Family feeling that was part of the Southwest culture. However, Once I moved to the Seattle area that feeling changed and seamed more business then family. I have nothing bad to say about Boeing, it was of a fantastic journey that I am proud to be part of. Good luck to all who have the opportunity nto be part of Boeing.

BLUF: Boeing is a great place to work with exciting challenges and excellent team building opportunities. Negatives include lower than median salary, fear-driven management decisions causing paralysis and work-life unbalance (including a 3 hour commute one way during traffic).

I worked on several planes, from the 737, 757, 737X and in Everett WA. the world tour plane 777, big plane and 767, then back to Renton to continue I also was volunteered as a "water-strider", It was an interesting position to do. Which meant that I had to gather up all the parts for the teams to install and to be able to do their jobs. Then I went back to doing the electrical install on the P-8 , loved that plane nice people and was able to learn more. My bosses were nice and very understanding. I miss that job!!

Pros and Cons
meet new people, learn what they want to show you, and use it towards your job
yes I agree the parking was not great, had to walk across the road , but still great.

After 11 years, working 10 different sites, seen quality coworkers struggling in antiquated culture. Exec leadership wants to retain talent but no accountability to ensure middle mgmt instills forward thinking & positive change initiatives. There are some good managers but still make you over justify any special requests & typically put burden on you. IT support is poor due to Boeing not prioritizing it, the software is poorly chosen & very outdated. What should be a simple process has to be worked through 30+ year old legacy software that takes years to learn/become proficient at. Processes require many shared resources groups involvement, often languishing in their queue due to understaffing. Do more with less mentality. Many skills learned are not universal or applicable to a job outside Boeing. Rarely can you work the majority of a project to completion. Salary growth is poor, avg around 3-4% annually w/ above average scores, performance review system is out of touch w/ reality.

Pros and Cons
Good 401k, difficult to get fired, not overworked
Outdated culture, software, processes, work schedules, not very flexible, poor salary growth

Boeing is the strongest company in the Aerospace & Defense industry for ethics and corporate governance, although the latter has been whittled back in recent years. Boeing has gotten 'fat, dumb, and happy' in the last decade or so, causing them to lose out with a number of new starts. Most operations are great to work for, with the exceptions being Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Seattle, Boeing Space Systems in Houston and also perhaps Huntsville. That being said, they are the best of the major Aerospace & Defense contractors to work for.

Pros and Cons
Well-organized, lots of technical resources, most fair of the A&D firms.
Innovation is suffering and not as competitive-minded as they should be.

They don't like to rehire X-Boeing employees that are over 65 years old and have earned the Sprit of Excellence Award, which is the highest award given by the Boeing company. Also if you have all the aerospace experience in which they are looking for, they would prefer to hire a 28 year old computer nerd with a degree and no experience and pay them 30% less.

Pros and Cons
What free lunch?
They don't like to rehire old dinosaurs. even though they say they do not discriminate old age.
