I found The home Depot to be what one would expect of it's size to be. They had notable company values but often failed to live up to them. I saw some brilliant people come and go - mostly go. There were few if any rewards for outstanding results and performance.

Pros and Cons
Large corporate footprint where good contacts in the industry could be acquired.
Bloated management, toleration of bullying, no empowerment

I started out being a inside assembler working for another contracter as I did not work directly for Home Depot. After about a year and a half the person I was working for decided to go away on vacation around the time of a major holiday(memorial day, fourth of July and Labor Day) were our buisest times. Well all the stores I went to that weekend started complaining they could not get a hold of my boss so they called me as several had my number also. Due to this I was offered a outside contractor position with Home Depot and took several stores away from my now Ex-Boss. Basically my job was to assemble any product that needed to me assembled either for store use or the be sold.

Pros and Cons
Freedom to set my own schedule
Management could not schedule ahead, easpecially around holidays

I had 2 "tours of duty" with HD. 8 yrs with a 4 yr absence then a 1 year return. On my 2nd tour., the starting pay was poverty level. I had left with only a slightly liveable wage in 2017 ($15.65) and returned to be started at $11 hr. After 1 month, raised me to $12 then when their covid relief benefits ended there was a company wide increase of $1- $2 hr.($14) After a year, I had resumed my status as top sales earner in the entire district (over 1/4 mil in 2nd quarter of specialty sales)), I asked for my salary to be increased to the level when I left in 2017. I was told a firm NO, I had to work my way vack to 2017 level which would take years. I learned that job performance means nothing, only fitting everyone into the same "box". I immediately tendered my resignation.

Pros and Cons
Good comradarie with fellow associates and lower management, paid holidays,
Poor pay, slow advancement, often difficult and demanding customer

I reported my racist head cashier several times. I had to leave before I got fired because she had it out for me. There was favoritism and no real chance for growth.

Pros and Cons
Insurance
No employee discount, low pay, encouraged environment of sexism and racism

I can from a Home Depot in Chicago in 2016. I started working for the Home Depot in Manhattan KS in 2017. I’ve applied for many positions got interviewed for the position and didn’t get them which I’m not upset about not getting the positions. What bothers me with this company in Manhattan is after I didn’t get the position the managers would want me to train the person that they gave the position to. Also I was dealing with a lot of sexual harassment at that store and management never made me feel safe at work.

Pros and Cons
Nice co-workers
Horrible and careless management skills

Home Depot started out as a nice place to work. People were nice, my coworkers helped understand the job better, and even the manager got involved in doing the work. As time went on, people were changed out due to resignations. I even had issues with my supervisor because he said I didn't move fast enough. Also, i had another coworker that did everything in her power to rid of me due to her jealousy of me obtaining employee of the month. Overall, Home Depot is a cutthroat place to work. Unless you're uneducated and make constant errors on the job, Home Depot treats you really poorly.

Pros and Cons
Easy to receive sick hours. Easy to call off work when needed.
Bad management that refuses to correct mistakes and bad coworkers who act unprofessionally.

cannot comment on current conditions. 10 + years ago was nay on to having a career with ongoing training . Unfortunately my store was a training ground for store managers where and assistant mgrs ; that relationships were not able to be cultivated. Also beware of retaining your position if you have medical services.

Pros and Cons
good work related friendships among peers.
frequent changes in management and mgmt styles.

i worked for the home depot for about a year and a half, and during that time learned how much fun working in a DIY and contractors' environment can be! the customers were happy most of the time, and my co-workers were very helpful and friendly! management was a little more relaxed than the grocery store i worked at, and i was glad to experience that. they are a good company to work for. when i'm able to work again, they told me to come back there to them first!

Pros and Cons
holiday party, rewards for conduct, safety and behaviors
no cafeteria, break room with a couple vending machines

Lot associates are the bottom of the food chain. Everyone expects for them to do there every whim. Balancing cart retrieval, customer load outs, and pulling customer orders is an extremely difficult task, and is not for everyone. Unfair pay advances.

Pros and Cons
Lots of exercise, working outdoors, occasional lunch provided
Too low pay, under appreciated, under staffed, stressful
