What does a Tool Design Engineer do?
As Tool Design Engineers, we develop plans for creating novel tools or making enhancements to the existing ones. Our regular duties include drawing schematics and blueprints. We consult with a team of engineers and manufacturers about specifications and production. Working in a team environment, we are tasked with discussing problems with our teammates and find a relevant solution to design issues. Delivering the best design for a tool is our core deliverable. We also involve in tool configuration, cutting, building, developing project documentation and reports.
Core tasks:
- designing powder tooling, and metal press gages
- assist in project management to and meet schedules
- monitoring manufacturing process and incorporate troubleshooting
- managing, purchasing, designing, and producing prototypes
- make reports on, and present the current status of every tool
