Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is an agency of the U.S Department of Homeland Security founded on September 11, 2001 with its headquarters based in Pentagon City, Arlington County, Virginia, U.S. The TSA was developed largely in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11,2001 which witnessed weaknesses in existing airport security procedures. It develops broad policies in order to protect the U.S transportation system which includes highways, railroads, buses, mass transit systems, ports and pipelines. The main focus of the company is on airport security and the prevention of aircraft hijacking. In the 18 year history of the TSA there have been seven administrators and six acting administrators. The mission of the company is to protect the transportation system of the nation to assure liberty of movement for people and commerce. Integrity, Respect and Commitment are the core values of TSA along with that it has the vision of becoming an agile security agency, embodied by a professional workforce on which its partners are engaged and the American people to outmatch a dynamic threat.
