Job Description

About This Role:

Kansas State University's Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina seeks applications for a full-time faculty member in Aviation Maintenance Management to join its Department of Aviation. This is an open-rank, nine-month position, with expected effort in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Open rank faculty position opportunities:
  • Tenure Track: Assistant or Associate Professor
  • Non-Tenure Track: Teaching Assistant Professor or Instructor

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Aviation or closely related field
  • FAA Mechanic with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • Three (3) years minimum technical experience in the aviation maintenance industry
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years minimum successful teaching experience in higher education in an FAA Part 147 program
  • Earned doctorate in a relevant discipline (for tenure track appointment)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and with students, faculty, and administration
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)
  • NCATT Aviation Electronics Technician
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License
  • Ability to connect to the aviation industry
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Applicants must meet accreditation credential requirements to teach college courses

About the Flight Instructor role

Air Transportation Flight Instructor

As flight instructors, we develop the instruction material after insights and analysis. We assist the experts and offer supporting documents. We instruct the events and staff. We administer the instruments for regulated functions. We are responsible for preparing the instructional manuals. We also provide instructional manuals to staff and students. Our duties also include training the students for aircrew work. We offer assistance and training to the aircrew. We create instruction manuals for different departments. We provide practical training on various topics, such as aircraft systems and operations. Some of us also provide theoretical lectures to the students.

Core tasks:

  • maintaining the progress report of the juniors and students
  • developing the training material and methodologies
  • evaluating the current training material and modifying it
